Steel cut oatmeal recipe

This excellent steel cut oatmeal recipe will give you sustained energy and lots of minerals (3 servings).

 

  • 1 cup of steel cut oats
  • 1 tablespoon of coconut oil
  • 1 3/4 cup of almond milk *
  • 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon

Choice of garnishes:

  • Cherries, strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, raspberries (fresh or dried)
  • Chopped walnuts (Grenoble, almonds, etc.)
  • Grilled coconut flakes
  • Walnut butter

Place the chopped oats in a medium bowl and cover with water. Soak the oats overnight uncovered. In the morning, drain and rinse.

In a saucepan, melt the coconut oil over medium heat. Stir in oats, heat to medium, and toast in oil for a few minutes, stirring frequently.

Add milk and cinnamon. Simmer the oatmeal by mixing frequently until it thickens.

Remove from heat and add your favorite topping.

* Changing almond milk with coconut milk would also be a good option.

Steel cut oats promote intestinal transit. This cereal contains soluble fiber. It is a great source of energy and protein.

Blueberries promote digestion, strengthen the immune system and reduce inflammation. It is a great source of vitamins C and K.

Strawberries are a source of vitamin C and fiber. It strengthens the immune system and reduces inflammation.

Coconut milk contains lauric acid, which is very effective against infections. It also contains magnesium which helps dilate blood vessels and thus lower blood pressure.

Almonds promote heart health, lower cholesterol, support bones, and teeth. It is also an excellent source of magnesium and vitamin E.
